Jennifer Lawrence Thinks Acting Is Like The Stupidest Career A Human Could Possibly Have

Jennifer Lawrence Vanity Fair Cover

Every time Jennifer Lawrence opens her mouth, I open my heart. How can she continue to say such wonderfully beautiful things in interviews? At some point she has to mess up right? At some point we’re going to find out she’s a horrible human being, a John Mayer fetishist or something equally as dastardly. Like a Nascar fan. But until then we can continue to soak of up her brilliance.

In the February issue of Vanity Fairshe speaks about fame and privacy and her lack of a high school education. But most importantly she talks about acting as a career.

“Not to sound rude, but [acting] is stupid,” Lawrence says. “Everybody’s like, ‘How can you remain with a level head?’ And I’m like, ‘Why would I ever get cocky? I’m not saving anybody’s life. There are doctors who save lives and firemen who run into burning buildings. I’m making movies. It’s stupid.’

As someone who starred as Bob Cratchit in their fifth grade production of A Christmas Carol, I can’t help but concur with Jen. Acting is stupid. And actors get paid stupid amounts of money. I think we all know that there are like a billion other professions who should get paid more. Doctors, teachers, firemen, real housewives, Air Bud, stage moms, I mean the list can go on and on and on.

So thank you Jennifer Lawrence for pointing out what we all know to be true. Acting is very stupid. And what’s even more stupid is that we will continue to spend $40,000 (average ticket price in NYC) to see your movies in theaters.

Ugh, life. It’s so sick sometimes.
