American Idol winner Fantasia Barrino just realized you haven’t thought about her in a while (or ever), so she has some controversial things to say about gay rights if you have a second to listen.
In response to fans’ criticism that she began her relationship with her baby daddy, Antwaun Cook, while he was still married, she got all high and mighty and posted a response rant on Instagram. Which, you know, is totes what I use Instagram for as well. Did you know it also takes pictures? Anyway, whatever. Here’s what Fantasia had to say:
“I Rise ABOVE IT ALL!!! THE WORLD IS GONE MAD. KIDS, THE GOVERMENT, THE church House… Everybody Trying!!!!!!! It’s a lot that going on that the Bible speaks about we should Not be doing. Weed legal in some places, Gay Marriage Legal BUT YET IM JUDGED!!! Im not doing Nothing for you… My Life!!!!”
Yes, these are all excellent points. The church house has gone really mad and the Bible specifically speaks out against gay marriage and never against adultery, so I’m picking up what you’re putting down, Fantasia. But now this pillar of spiritual knowledge and political insight is taking back her wise, well-punctuated words of wisdom, and is
apologizing clarifying her message to her fans. All fourteen of them.
Fantasia’s manager woke up from her long winter’s nap of inactivity to answer the first questions about her client since 2004, saying that Fantasia is a strong supporter of the LGBT community, and definitely not drafting the following:
“I, Fantasia Monique Barrino, don’t judge anyone because I don’t want to be judged. The gay community is one of my largest supporters. I support the gay community as the support me. Bloggers please stop misrepresenting the facts.”
Yeah, so just write that on the blackboard ninety-nine more times and I’ll believe you. And as a blogger, I apologize. I will stop creating Instagram accounts as you and using them for anti-gay rants and go back to never thinking about you at all not ever.
In other irrelevant American Idol news, Adam Lambert may not be anti-gay, but he is definitely anti-Les Miserables. He took to the world of Twitter to offer a mesmerizing critique of the film, and its actors’ lack of singing talent. Except for Anne Hathaway, who was breath-taking. Well color me irritated.
It’s nice to see that two never-was-beens are taking the opportunity of the New Year to really (almost) get their names back out there again but sort of for the first time.
