Maybe I’m biased because I’ve come to think that Krysten Ritter and her sociopathic character Chloe on Don’t Trust The B in Apt 23 are one in the same. Or maybe I just really imagine Anastasia Steele to be an unknown wide-eyed actress who no one knows. But either way, I can’t imagine the rumors about Krysten Ritter being a frontrunner for the coveted Fifty Shades of Grey role are true. Rarely have I been so horrified by casual casting convo.
It all started innocently enough yesterday when Gather simply said that Krysten Ritter would be good for the part. They simply stated an opinion — a ridiculous opinion – but an opinion nonetheless.
Then, twist, Krysten Ritter herself responded to a tweet about the article and said she’d be down to play Anastasia Steele.
Naturally this started rumors that she’d be taking the role. If only getting our favorite actresses cast in movie was so easy. I’d spend my entire day writing speculative articles about Emma Stone and Emma Watson and Lori Beth Denberg and suddenly they’d be in every movie. Together. Forever. Like God intended.
After the rumors started, I began to get interested. Not because there’s any basis in them, but because I never once considered her for the role. She’s Krysten Ritter. She’s cool, she’s edgy, she pulls off bangs. Those aren’t words I’d ever use to describe Anastasia Steele. So therefore it shouldn’t happen. On behalf of everyone involved.
Also, can we please cast this movie soon. It’s ridiculous that Jessica Simpson could birth TWO whole children before one measly movie gets cast. I can’t handle another year of rumors. Not when this one got my heart racing so fast.
