Yes Mariah Carey And Nick Cannon, Your Twins Are Adorable, But Must We Refer To Them As “Dem Babies”?

Mariah Carey Nick Cannon twins Dem Babies

When all of sudden adorable pictures of Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon‘s twins Monroe and Moroccan on Christmas start blowing up the web, you want to go straight to the source. Did Mariah tweet them? Are they posted on Instagram? Is this a People-style photo shoot? What’s going on here?

As it turns out, the pictures originated on “Dembabies.com” – which isn’t, as you might think, a website dedicated to cute pictures of babies doing funny things like riding a golden retriever or teething on a condom wrapper. Turns out this is a website Mariah and Nick created for posting photos of their little bundles of joy. The proud parents wanted to tell the world that these aren’t just any babies, these are dembabies. I present to you: Dembabies.com.

I’m not a “lamb” or anything, but is #dembabies a thing that people know? According to the “Most Precious Preciousness” category of the high-stakes Bossip Awards, referred to in this lone tweet, it is, indeed, a thing that people actually say.

Mariah and Nick, you’ve already named your children Monroe and Moroccan. Was it necessary to dub them “dembabies” on top of that? I can just see it, the kids turn five and they’re posting rap videos with lyrics like, “Sure mom and dad have fans like crazy, but it’s our time now we are demBABIEZ.” With this strange little website set to Mariah Carey singing some sort of lullaby, we are paving the way for all sorts of unadvisable commercial ventures.

By all means, share photos of Monroe and Morocco with the world – God knows we need something uplifting to combat that sinking feeling when Chris Brown and Rihanna tweet pictures of each other– but dembabies? I don’t think so.

Am I going to show you all the pictures anyway? Of course, they’re freakin’ adorable.
