Even though I don’t have a lawyer present, I’ll go on the record and say that this weekend’s episode of Saturday Night Live was one of the best I’ve seen in a long time. Martin Short did a phenomenal hosting job and seemed to bring out the best in everyone throughout the entire show. And if that wasn’t enough to get me real jazzed up about life, I found out that Jennifer Lawrence would be hosting the show on January 19th, 2013 with The Lumineers.
Yes, it’s true, it’s really, really true. Jennifer Lawrence from The Bill Engvall Show will be re-gracing our television screens again in January. After a brief film career where she racked up several low-key award nominations, she’d decided to return to TV filmed in front of a live studio audience.
As much as I absolutely adore J.Law, I fear for her. Not for her life, but for her career. So many great actors have met their demise on the SNL stage as we find out that they’re only funny when they’re in front of a script. What if she’s one of those? You know, those horribly awkward actors who ruin ever sketch with their stilted delivery. Ugh, then what will we do?
Obviously I want her to be a Natalie Portman — an actor who goes out there and kills it in every single sketch. But I must prepare myself for the worst. She could bomb. She could work Hunger Games humor into every sketch and just ride on that for all 90 minutes.
Or she could be awesome and amazing and force me to fall even more in love with her. Guess we’ll have to wait for January 19th to see what happens. Until then you can find me alternating between reading Hunger Games fan fic and watching the Martin Short royal Gyno sketch from this weekend.
