You’d think that Buckingham Palace would have Kate Middleton ferried away to a nunnery now that we know she’s pregnant, possibly with twins. Like, I don’t think even Pippa could get access to her sister unless it were deemed absolutely necessary. That’s why we’re so surprised that the Royal Family almost became the victims of a royal prank.
Radio hosts Mel and Michael, on Sydney’s 2Day FM station, managed to call the hospital where Kate was staying and halfway convinced the nurse on duty that they were Queen Elizabeth and Prince Charles asking to be connected to Kate. Like, I could do a better English accent, yet the nurse just gaily chats with them as if Kate were a normal person confined to her hospital bed for severe morning sickness. The way she was shooting the shit with them, I was almost convinced that she knew it was a joke and was deflecting them from the hospital’s royal guest.
But no, she’s all, “Sleep is good for her, she’s been getting some fluids to rehydrate her because she was quite dehydrated when she came in. But she’s quite stable at the moment.” And when they ask about how Prince William is doing, she freely shares, ”He went home at about half past nine last night. She’s quite stable at the moment. She hasn’t had any retching with me since I’ve been on duty, and she’s been sleeping on and off. I think it’s difficult sleeping in a strange bed, as well.”
Does this nurse know nothing about British society? For one, she could’ve sold this specific details to a newspaper for a nice sum of money. For another, she’s probably already been sacked and really could’ve used that extra pay.
