5 Facts About YouTube Sensation Kurt Hugo Schneider

You may have never heard of Kurt Hugo Schneider, but he’s kind of a big deal on YouTube. And yes, he does way more than make haul videos, so I’d say he’s kind of a big deal in general. This guy has got a set of vocal chords that makes people like me (I wish more than anything that I could sing) want rip them out for our own personal use. As a music producer and filmmaker, he’s got the technical skills necessary to arrange and produce things like this:

You can hear more amazing covers on his YouTube channel.  Which you should visit. As soon as you’re done reading this article. ‘Cause Kurt is someone worth checking out.

We did got the awesome opportunity to speak to Kurt ourselves recently and here’s what we found out:

1. Kurt’s a sweetie. He gave props to most of the pop world when we asked him who his favorite artist to cover is, saying, “Maroon 5, Taylor Swift, Bruno Mars… I don’t know, there are just so many good artists it’s hard to pick one!!”

2. He’s probably a genius. To someone who can’t name all the chess pieces without consulting Wikipedia (um, me), finding out that Kurt played chess competitively for 10 years is really impressive. Not into the Bobby Fischer thing? Finding out that he also went to Yale, and graduated Magna Cum Laude in 2010 with a degree in mathematics should be enough to make you think, okay, Mensa.

3. He likes obstacle courses! He told us that his favorite YouTube videos are those with “epic parkour” in them. It’s best to let you see what that means for yourself.

4. He’s indecisive, but not in an annoying way. He can’t decide on a favorite artist to cover when it comes to music, and he can’t decide on a celeb crush. As he puts it, there are “too many to choose from!”

5. He knows every Backstreet Boys song. I was more of a Hanson fan myself, but knowing the repertoire of any iconic boy band is a pop culture guilty pleasure that any 20something can be proud of.

Want more Kurt Hugo Schneider? Tune in to his YouTube channel this Saturday for a live streaming concert (awesome, right?) at 2 PM PST/5 PM EST. Here, I’ll just let him tell you all about it:
