With Breaking Dawn Part Two, the final installment of the Twilight saga, coming out this week, it’s hard not to be a little nostalgic. The books helped me through my most awkward and vulnerable high school years, and then the films carried me through college. Yes, I saw every movie at midnight. And yes, I’m #TeamEdward. Now that the saga is coming to an end I’ve been doing a lot of reminiscing, and I’ve comprised a list of what I consider the seven best moments from the entire saga (in chronological order, not ranking). Join me for a walk down memory lane:
The Baseball Scene:
To be honest, I had a really tough time with the first movie — it was just so awkward. However, my favorite scene by far is the baseball scene. Here we get to see the Cullen‘s free to be their awesome vampire selves, and they look like they’re a lot fun to be around. The greatest moment in this scene is when the entire Cullen clan blocks Bella from the nomadic vampires (hellllo, Cam Gigandet ) and Carlise proclaims “this is my family.” Awww.
Any Time Eric Yorkie Speaks
As one of the best – and most underrated – characters in the franchise, everything Eric Yorkie says is pure gold. Eric (played by Justin Chon) is especially hilarious during the very awkward first installment (it’s undeniable, people!) when he invites Bella to “La Push baby, La Push.” I’d give anything to be his homegirl.
Bella’s Birthday Kiss
I know you’re probably all screaming “what about the first kiss?!” Hear me out. Bella’s birthday kiss in New Moon is much more romantic and less awkward than their first kiss, and this is the moment where I truly bought into their love. It was also a tragically beautiful moment (for those who had read the books beforehand, anyway) because everyone knew Edward would leave Bella shortly after.
Bella & Jacob’s First Kiss
I’m pretty sure that if you listened really closely on June 24th, 2010, you could hear the gasps of millions of Twilight fans around the world. Even though everyone knew it was coming, watching Bella and Jacob kiss for the first time toward the end of Eclipse shook Team Edward fans to the core. As earth shattering as this moment was, it was also completely necessary. Bella needed to know once and for all if her feelings for Jacob were more than platonic, and she just had to test Cher’s famous kissing theory. Also, anytime Taylor Lautner is shirtless is a win in my book.
