Lindsay Lohan, already notorious for not showing up to work, can now add interviews to the list of responsibilities she consistently flakes on. Three weeks ago, she struck a deal with the producers of her new Lifetime movie Liz & Dick that she would sit down with Barbara Walters for a 20/20 interview, in exchange for them paying her $46,000 hotel bill. But now, Lindsay has dropped out of the interview, which was set to tape this week.
The reason? Her recent legal troubles, natch. Sources close to the starlet told TMZ that 20/20 producers gave Lindsay’s camp the heads-up that Barbara would be asking about the allegations that LiLo lied about her June car crash. If that’s deemed a misdemeanor, Lindsay could face even more jail time, and it sounds like Barbara was ready to grill her. But because Lindsay is an upstanding actress who only wants to promote her new movie (said no one, ever), she’s not doing it anymore.
Regarding the lying-to-cops issue, Lindsay is sticking to her guns that she was too confused by the accident and the policemen in her face that she “would never deliberately lie to the cops.” But accidentally lying is just fine?
Of course, her new PR team who coached her on this decision is trying to make Linds still look sympathetic. More sources told TMZ that she feels just awful, since Barbara is a family friend, and that she’d like to reschedule “as soon as her team feels the time is right.” The problem is, at that point she won’t have a crappy Lifetime movie coming out anymore, so Barbara will have nothing but Lindsay’s possible jail time to talk about. At least now she had a buffer.
