Oh my god you guys, hold on to your childhoods, because they’re talking about doing a reboot of Boy Meets World. You know, that show from when we were in middle school that everyone was allowed to watch except for me? That’s frequently referenced in conversation where I’m expected to have some input, as a child of the 80s? Yeah, that show. More on that in a minute. They’re planning on calling it Girl Meets World (inventive, I know), and it’ll…you know what? Why don’t I just let them tell it. Here’s the blurb that TVLine sent out:
The Disney Channel is in the early stages of developing a Boy Meets World sequel series called Girl Meets World, TVLine has learned exclusively. Sources say that the cable network is trying to land original series stars Ben Savage and Danielle Fishel to revisit their roles of sweethearts Cory and Topanga, who married before their ABC sitcom ended its seven-season run. The new series would center on their preteen daughter.
Okay. So Cory and Topanga would be the parents in this new series, in case anyone wasn’t feeling their twenties slipping away fast enough.
This is actually perfect. This is a second chance for my childhood. A second chance for me to revisit those shadowy corners of my past that I wasn’t allowed to explore as a kid. Things like fast food and Barbies, cartoons and red meat, rap music and Nintendo. All these things I missed out on as a kid, and Girl Meets World is the portal that can take me back and let me do it all again. It’s some kind of miracle. I’m gonna follow this project avidly, and I promise you — the night it first airs, I’ll be on the couch in my Jack Purcell’s eating Krispy Kreme donuts and a bloody steak, listening to a Britney Spears and Eminem mash-up and playing with my GameBoy.
