The CMA Award Hosts Made Fun Of Taylor Swift Last Night, Making Them Prime Targets For Her Next Song

See, The CMA Awards were yesterday, which means it was a big night for country music. And if you’re anything like me, you probably thought it would be a big night for Taylor Swift as well. Even though Tay Tay hasn’t yet, I got so used to her being named number one in everything by all ranking systems that I thought she was a shoe in for both Entertainer and Female Vocalist of the Year. But the joke was on me, because America’s Favorite Sweetheart was snubbed by the Country Music Association!

Or maybe the joke is on the CMA? As of last night, the Association is Tay Tay’s most recent ex, and we all know what that means. No one breaks up with Miss Swift and lives to tell about it walks away without a pop-country parting gift. Except for John Mayer. You know Taylor dated him right? You might have forgotten because she never wrote a song about their relationship or anything.

Taylor might not have won any legit awards last night, but she does deserve some credit for being the butt of the night’s best joke. Show hosts Carrie Underwood and Brad Paisley opened the country music event by discussing all the big trades major sports have seen this year (Peyton Manning to the Jets, anyone?). Then Brad remarked that the biggest trade of the year had to be among the Kennedy clan, “who somehow traded Arnold Schwarzenegger for Taylor Swift.” Zing.

Then Carrie leaned in and whispered to Brad that they (Conor Kennedy and Taylor Swift) had broken up, after which a shocked Brad asked if “they [were] ever gonna get back together?” The joke got a little awkward when the play on “We Are Never, Ever Getting Back Together” went a bit too long, but was a hit nonetheless. My guess is that it could have been made a tad bit funnier if the cameraman had shown us Taylor’s reaction on screen, which probably resembled Blake Shelton’s surprise face impression.

While last night may not have been a clean sweep for Miss Swift, she’s got nothing to fret over. After all, she is one of Forbes richest people has 20 million Twitter followers, so there.

I might poke fun at Tay Tay, but at the end of the day she is a remarkably accomplished woman, and she doesn’t need the CMA to tell her so.

Actually, she wrote ‘Dear John’ about John Mayer – I know that’s hardly the point of the article but I just couldn’t let it slip by! :)
