Looking through photos from the hottest Halloween parties over the weekend, it’s clear that all of these celebrities’ stylists told them that meta is in. The more self-referential, the better! The one that takes the cake is Sum 41 frontman Deryck Whibley, also known as Avril Lavigne‘s ex-husband: He dressed up as his surly ex, while his girlfriend donned some crazy-curly hair to be her new fiancé Chad Kroeger.

Of course, what made it even more amazing was Nickelback‘s response: Hey Deryck loved the costumes! we were going to dress up as you guys this year but all the parties had celebrity themes haha! -CK

    Deryck is unattractive as a man and hideous as a woman. Are you sure Ari Cooper isn’t a man?? They tried so hard to be funny but failed miserably. Chad’s response made the ‘joke’ absolutely priceless LOLOL!!
