It must be difficult to be pop culture bloggers trying to come up with stunt pieces and fresh, interesting questions at press days. So kudos to the folks at Screen Junkies for getting Colin Farrell, Christopher Walken, and Sam Rockwell to do a dramatic reading of scenes from TLC‘s Here Comes Honey Boo Boo even though they’re supposed to be promoting their new comedy Seven Psychopaths. To be fair, Walken was probably used to it since over the last few years he’s been videotaped reading anything from Where the Wild Things Are to Lady Gaga‘s “Poker Face.” Part of the joke is how utterly confused he looks, as if he’s never heard of these things before. And rest assured, this video is just as brilliant as the ones that have come before.
But before you go expecting to see Walken say the now-famous line “A dolla makes me holla honey boo boo child,” Screen Junkies had a flash of inspiration and instead cast Walken as “Mama” June Shannon. YES. He instructs on how to make sketti — note how Colin seems to cover his mouth when the butter and ketchup get mentioned — and waxes poetic about how “all that vajiggle jaggle is not beauteous.” It’s amazing to watch, especially how the other two play off him. Neither younger guy has watched the show, obviously, since Sam gives Honey Boo Boo a Southern accent, and Colin’s imitation of Chubbs sounds like a Western.
“These are words?” Walken asks incredulously. What a cutie. Start around 0:40 for the greatness.
