When it was first reported that both Nicki Minaj and Mariah Carey were going to serve as judges on American Idol together, the diva fight stories practically wrote themselves. I was mildly annoyed by the sexist notion that two strong and powerful women could not co-exist peacefully, and I hoped that they would prove the naysayers wrong.
Now, a blurry video has come out of the two superstars going at it WWF style, with Nicki dealing out the majority of the verbal abuse while a helpless Keith Urban looks on. It’s kind of hard to hear in the clip, but here are some of the things they say in it:
Nicki: …I’m gonna knock you out…
And if you’ve got a fucking problem, handle it. I told them I’m not fucking putting up with your fucking highness over there.
You think I’m playin’, get your big ass on up and go. Bitch you can go… Bitch you can go… Bitch you can go! Say one more thing to me!
Mariah: Oh why, WHYYYY do I have a three year old sitting around me?
I can’t see my kids, because you decided to act like a little crazy bitch and go all around the stage
Nicki: Well then go see them now, go see them now, you’re boring as fuck, you’re boring as fuck.
Keith Urban (ineffectually): Time out, time out, time out, time out, time out.
As of now, the Youtube commenters seem fairly divided on whether Nicki is a “ghetto” person with “no talent” or is totally justified in her outburst (“I would start a fight when a woman act like the highness”). And Nick Cannon weighed in fairly diplomatically (but with a touch of shade thrown Nicki’s way) on Access Hollywood this morning. I’m not going to take a side on this, other than to say that when I did SEO for this post just now, Nicki was searching quite a bit higher than Mariah. The internet loves angry people!
