As you may know, Chris Brown is in a bit of legal trouble for allegedly violating the terms of his probation. He recently failed a drug test, and there’s also some question as to whether he’s properly fulfilling his community service requirement. (I’m a little sad the neck tattoo hasn’t come up yet, but give the judge time.)
All of this was not too surprising, but what is surprising is that Rihanna might take the stand to speak in his favor. “Rihanna has spoken to Chris since his progress reporting hearing on Monday afternoon and offered her continued support,” a source told RadarOnline. “Rihanna told Chris she would go to court on November 1 for his court appearance and tell Judge Patricia Schnegg that she shouldn’t set a hearing to decide if he violated terms of his probation because he has accepted responsibility for his actions and has apologized to RiRi on multiple occasions.”
Let me get this straight: Rihanna is going to argue that Chris Brown did not, in fact, violate his probation by smoking drugs and skipping community service because he’s very sorry for what he did to get on probation in the first place? This sounds like a line of reasoning even the shadiest of TV lawyers would advise against. In addition to having little to do with the issue at hand, it’s suspect even on its own terms; Chris Brown has done little to demonstrate he’s learned the right lessons from this.
Of course, there’s a chance it could just be a rumor, but judging from what Rihanna has said about Chris so far (particularly: that she forgives him and is still in love with him), I don’t think it’s too far fetched. Just the other day, she tweeted this statement in his support:
