Wow. Color me shocked. (Then color me tan for personal reasons.) I never thought we’d live to see the day when Dina Lohan admitted that she contributed to Lindsay Lohan’s current career as a professional trainwreck.
But lo and behold, she told New York Daily News that in retrospect she may have done a few things differently. Such as put parenting her children in front of living vicariously through them. I mean she didn’t say that exactly, but said something close enough.
“I’m certainly not making excuses for Lindsay’s behavior,” Dina said. “But she’s a 26-year-old woman.”
But knowing what she knows now about the many child actors who develop substance problems later in life, does she regret putting Lindsay into 60 commercials and “Parent Trap” before she even turned 11?
“I was born into the business,” Dina told The News. “My mother was an entertainer. It was natural. But yes, in the next life, I might not do it.”
While it’s not a full confession for her sins and while it doesn’t address the fact that she chose to procreate with Michael Lohan, it’s certainly a start.
And perhaps her start will encourage Lindsay to also get a new start on life. One that doesn’t involve competing with Amanda Bynes to see who can win the medal for “Celebrity You Never Want to be Driving Next to on the Road.”
As her unlicensed and often disregarded life coach, I suggest Lindsay go back to where it all began and make the very necesary sequel to Parent Trap. I personally am dying to find out how the transcontinental relationship worked out for everyone involved.
Especially, the evil almost-stepmother. I mean, she really dodged a bullet there. Her fiance lied to her about his daugther having a twin sister. Who knows what else he hid from her? Also, I would like to find out if Martin and Chessy ever got together. It would be so very Downton Abbey of them!
So while Linds works on getting that together, Dina can maybe, possibly, hitch a ride to South Korea and go pick up Ali Lohan. There’s still time to save her from a mediocre modeling career that will inevitably crush her soul.
