We’re a few episodes into Abby & Brittany and I’m still completely in awe of the twins. Despite being born permanently conjoined to another person, Abby and Brittany Hensel are determined to have as normal of a life as possible.
On one hand, this is the only life they’ve ever known. It’s not like they made a wish on a star in a Disney movie and woke up attached to each other during one mystical morning in high school. Being together forever and ever has always been normal for them.
On the other hand, they’re surrounded by people who are not conjoined to another person. They grew up with a younger brother and sister who live completely independent lives. So while they make efforts to act like everyone else, they’re not like everyone else — and although they’re fully aware of this fact, it never seems to bother them.
It’s crazy! In a good way. But still, CRAZY!
If I spend more than a few days with one person, I start playing all kinds of passive aggressive games in an attempt to get them to leave me alone. Abby and Brittany fully accept their situation and refuse to let it be an obstacle in their lives.
