Nearly half a year ago when promoting The Avengers, Tom Hiddleston told a cute anecdote about the first time he was in costume as Loki and got to see his castmates similarly suited up. His first scene with the group, you see, was actually at the very end of the movie. He told Access Hollywood that he got up to a little bit of Loki-style mischief:
“There was one day, actually, where I ran amok in a lunch break and I stole the [Captain America] shield and the [Thor] hammer. We were in these underground tunnels in Cleveland; I literally had the shield in my hand and was holding the hammer aloft in my arm. I sent pictures to Chris [Evans] and Chris [Hemsworth] and was like, ‘Guys, I’m not giving them back.’”
Too cute! I actually missed this interview when it first aired, but you can imagine that fans were dying to see the photo in question. Well, now they can fully be in on the joke. Yesterday afternoon Tom tweeted the photo, along with the caption “I am Loki, of Asgard, and I am burdened with a glorious Props Department.” Not surprisingly, all of the Hiddlestoners and Loki’s Army members went crazy.
This photo encapsulates why I love Tom Hiddleston: He could’ve been the odd man out in this group of established actors, and yet he became one of the boys. As we’ve seen through other interviews, especially stuff with MTV News, he’s not afraid to play up his silly, giggle-prone side, yet he still comes across as undeniably sexy. And now, right in time for The Avengers‘ DVD/Blu-ray release, he shares the same photo that he tweeted to the Chrises, with us. And suddenly all the kids on Tumblr and Twitter feel ten times more involved in their adorable superhero bromance.
