Here’s the secret about Hollywood that no one tells you. Once you reach a certain point in your career, you can wear whatever you want. The Hunger Games star Jennifer Lawrence just learned this lesson when she posed inside the body of a black swan on the cover of W.
While she spoke to a reporter at the magazine about her career, I couldn’t focus on the words. Not when she starred at me with feathers up and down her arms.
If you or I or a C-list actress wore this outfit to run errands, we’d be laughed out of town. A commoner wearing a dress made of bird feathers!? As if.
But when someone as wonderfully amazing as Jennifer Lawrence slips those feathers over her head, they transform into a statement. A statement of style that says, “I’m so famous that I can wear pigeon feathers about town and no one will say a word.”
And that’s really why we should all aspire to be famous. You can wear whatever you want, whenever you want.
Wrinkled shirts! Skorts! Pajama Jeans! Cashmere long johns! Paper bags!
Nothing’s off limits and nothing’s taboo. It’s a dream life and I want in. Mostly because I need a reason to wear my new corduroy chaps in public.
