The Daily WTF: Amber Portwood Has A Protector In Jail, And Her Name Is Sugarfoot

Amber Portwood jail protector Sugarfoot Teen Mom sober drugsAmber Portwood may not have been able to make it to the Teen Mom reunion show that aired last night, but this smart cookie still wound up in today’s news cycle. At least, under the “wtf” news as we hear from RadarOnline that Amber has made a buddy in prison. Since Amber decided to do time instead of rehab for drugs, she’s developed a friendship with a fellow inmate… named Sugarfoot. You’re gonna want to read the whole account from an anonymous source:

“Amber has made few friends at Indiana’s Rockville Correctional Facility, but Sugarfoot certainly has her back. Everywhere Amber goes, Sugarfoot is by her side—she’s what they call in prison, a protector, someone who will fight your battles and keep you safe.

“They are very fond of one another. Amber even asked to move cells to be closer to her new pal. And as a sign of Sugarfoot’s true dedication to her new friend, she has had Amber’s initials tattooed on her neck. They have a lot in common—both have young kids and also suffered with substance abuse problems. The pair appear to be a good influence on one another, which can only help Amber get her life back on track.”

I’m envisioning some cross between Andy and Red in The Shawshank Redemption, and Rihanna and Katy Perry maybe being lesbians at last week’s VMAs. Of course, I assumed that Amber could take care of herself, what with those badass hand piercings she sported all last season on Teen Mom and the fact that her legal troubles began when she started beating up on her babydaddy Gary. (Not to make light of the situation, but Amber has never struck me as a victim.)

I do wonder if this relationship with implode, however, since often the Teen Mom and Teen Mom 2 girls go through female friendships at an alarming rate. What starts out as platonic soulmates turns into backstabbing and blabbing to sites like RadarOnline. So, Amber better be sure that Sugarfoot isn’t just gunning for her own reality series, or at least a couple thousand Twitter followers.
