Who knew that so many great music videos dropped this year? Looking through the nominees for tonight's MTV Video Music Awards, we're reliving some of our favorite videos of late: Rihanna's drugs-and-love cautionary tale "We Found Love," Maroon 5 and Wiz Khalifa singing about being stuck in a "Payphone," and "Boyfriend" by Justin Bieber, which has been on the charts for only a short time but makes us wish we were Selena Gomez.
And of course we can't forget the year's anthems: One Direction crooning "What Makes You Beautiful," Gotye's mournful "Somebody I Used To Know" that got us through every break-up and friend fight, and Fun. promising to carry us home with "We Are Young." Seriously, I couldn't tell you who's going to win, because there's such stiff competition. I didn't even mention Carly Rae Jepsen, Frank Ocean, and The Wanted all up for Best New Artist!
Expect many of the nominees to take the stage, including Taylor Swift (performing a song from her new album Red) and One Direction! That's right, it's their first time (hee) and you get to be part of it. Plus, we're psyched for comedian Kevin Hart to host—already his promos have mocked Kim Kardashian and Kanye West, plus the infamous "I'mma let you finish" moment with Kanye and T. Swift.
Last year, Beyoncé revealed her baby bump—what will happen this year to top that? You'll have to tune in tonight at 8 p.m. EST.
