In a completely classy move befitting of an adult woman, Joy Behar predicts that Honey Boo Boo will grow into a 400 -pound woman with large boobs. While we’re still undecided among the editors here at Crushable as to whether it’s okay to watch Here Comes Honey Boo, we do all agree that it’s not okay to bully a 6-year-old.
Like the infamous Miss Cleo of the ’90s, she nonchalantly predicts the fate of Alana Thompson on The Huffington Post as if she knows what she’s talking about.
What’s little Honey Boo Boo going to grow up to be? That’s what I want to know?” asks Joy Behar. “She’s going to be a fat kid; she’s going to grow up to be a big fat woman. She is, I can tell. She’s just a kid, but you see the genetics are right there. She’s going to have large boob boobs — Honey Boobs Boobs.”
Calling a kid fat and then talking about her Honey Boobs Boobs just rubs me the wrong way. Seriously, say whatever you want about her mother June Shannon.
Not because she deserves to be bullied or made fun of anymore than Honey Boo Boo, but because she’s an adult. She signed up for this reality show and she’s fully aware of the ramifications of sharing your life on TV.
After all, she originally rose to fame for feeding her daughter the incredibly unhealthy Go Go Juice. Almost as soon as that episode aired, every nutrionist, child expert and parent condemened her online. So Here Comes Honey Boo Boo isn’t her first time being thrust into the spotlight for her parenting choices.
But Honey Boo Boo didn’t ask for this attention. Sure she’s an incredibly charismatic kid who clearly loves the attention, but she’s six. And as a six-year-old, she can’t really comprehend what it means to be a reality TV show. She doesn’t understand that by putting herself out there, she’s opening herself up for criticism.
So maybe the adults out there can remember that and maybe hold back from weight predictions. At least until she’s in the second grade. Then I suppose Internet standards say that she’s fair game.
