These TV Apartment Floorplans Make Us Hate Carrie Bradshaw And The Friends Cast Even More

Carrie Bradshaw apartment floorplan Sex and the City Friends The Big Bang Theory nikneukUpdate: The artist Iñaki Aliste Lizarralde informed us that he’s been banned from deviantART for using “registered characters and trademarks,” so we took down his photos from this post. You can still check out the floorplans at RedBubble, artician, and Pinterest.

Even after Sex and the City wrapped in 2004, we still obsess over Carrie Bradshaw’s apartment. It’s the ultimate in wish-fulfillment for single girls in Manhattan: Located a little out of the way but there’s always a cab available (or Big’s private car), and the interior is unbelievably huge. In fact, whenever I watch repeats I experience a mix of vicarious delight and ugly envy. Even in the pre-recession era, as a writer Carrie had no chance in hell of affording a place that nice! And yet, we’re meant to believe that all of her “I couldn’t help but wonder”s financed this spacious abode with a sizeable kitchen, huge closet, and a bedroom and living room? Yeah, right.

With all that said, check out these awesome TV apartment floorplans! (Hey, I may resent Carrie, but I love ogling her place.) Artist Iñaki Aliste Lizarralde has painstakingly recreated the apartments we grew up watching, with an astonishing attention to detail. In addition to Carrie’s place, he’s also tackled the apartments from Friends, Frasier, and The Big Bang Theory.

You have to wonder how many Sex and the City episodes Lizzaralde sat through to get all the details of Carrie’s place, from the type of chairs she curls up in to what’s hanging in her closet.

And if you thought that was impressive, look at his rendering of the mirror-image apartments from Friends! Monica’s anal-retentive kitchen and Joey’s beloved Barcaloungers… it’s all there.

Of course, this sets my blood to boiling again because it’s even more unbelievable that they can afford these places, even considering how they basically cram 4-5 of the friends in there at one time. Don’t get me wrong, I love my new apartment in Brooklyn… but I traded having a living room and roof for residing in a somewhat shady neighborhood where I’m the minority. Looking at these floorplans, you get the sense that Carrie and Rachel and co. didn’t have to make any sacrifices to live the high life in NYC.

I think Monica’s apt was explained in one episode of Friends. If I recall she supposedly inherited it from her Grandmother and it was still rent controlled or some other magical storyline. Still no explanation for how Joey & Chandler afforded the apt across the hall.

You still have to pay taxes on on inherited apartments…also how did Ross afford a one bedroom?? Do professors make that much. And Phoebe was unemployed basically, right? She also had a one-bedroom. INSANE>.

    • Tasha

These look too much like http://www.fantasyfloorplans.com Why would someone in another country draw only TV show floor plans that an American artist already drew? Isn’t there TV in Europe? No one is believing he came up with these on his own.

      • Iñaki

        .

        Dear Tasha.
I am the author of this floorplans and I would like to talk to you about a couple of things.
        1. Of course that my floorplans look “too much like” to the floorplans from FantasyFloorplans cause both are based in the same studio sets. For the same reason all the drawings and paintings of the Eiffel Tower looks similar cause ¡Surprise! are using the same theme.
        2. My drawings are artistic artworks, extremely acccurated in dimensions and proportions, coloured and full of furniturs and decoratons details. Her layouts are like a simple pseudo-technical blueprints, undetailed and monochromatic. Adn full of mistakes too.
        3. In fact I started drawing floorplans before the owner of FantasyFloorplans. If you make a search using the words “nikneuk + frasier” you could find my floorplan of Frasier’s apartment in many blogs since 3 or 4 years ago.Yes, an European drawing a floorplan of an american TV series before an American one did it !!! Scandalous !!!
        3. I have not been the first to make floorplans from movies or TV series and I will not be the last. And I never said I was. Somebody in a forum noticed me the existence of this book: http://www.amazon.com/TV-Sets-Fantasy-Blueprints-Classic/dp/1579121071/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pC_nS_nC?ie=UTF8&colid=1C5QXT8RN3GFO&coliid=I2WKCA2DXYI4G7
This book contains monochromatic and undetailed blueprints curiously like the floorplans form fantasyFloorplans. Don’t you think ???
Maybe she is plagiarizing this book…
        4. I am from Spain and for your information I am doing actually the floorplans from the series “La que se avecina”, “Aquí no hay quien viva” and “Aida”.
And in my future projects I want to do the floorplans from “Fawlty Towers”, “George & Mildred” and “A man about the cause”.
If you don’t know it “Three’s company” (one of my future projets too) is a remake of “A man about the house” an original european TV series.

        5. I apologize for not being american or unatedstatesoafamerican…
        My best wishes to you…

        Iñaki

        .
And BTW, I have seen in her website FantasyFloorlans that she as not made any floorplan from “How I Met Your Mother”.
So, If she makes one similar drawing she will be copying me…
        is that correct ???

    • Joan

He’ not just ripping off Brandi Roberts http://www.fantasyfloorplans.com, he’s also ripping off Mark Bennett http://www.markmooregallery.com/artists/mark-bennett/ If either of them drew it, you can be sure he’ll draw it next — and in record time. Gee, wonder how he produces them so quickly?? Both Bennett and Roberts have been drawing floor plans practically since birth so trying to fool anyone into believing he made these up on his own is laughable. His future projects include Three’s Company — I’m sure already drawn by Bennett or Roberts. So he can’t speak English and only draws shows already drawn by two known American artists. Seriously people, this guy is a fraud. And ripping off two nationally known artists is a dumb move.

      • Iñaki

        .
        Hello Joan.
        .Yes I am a fraud.
A fraud as all the people who paint the face ofAudrey Hepburn or apples in a basket that have already been painted before.I am a professional interior designer with many years of experience and I am able to do floorplans and drawings like this without the need to copy to others.. If you think that my drawings are a copy of the simple floorplans of Fantasy Floorplans and you are not smart enough to see the difference between both… is not my problem..
And yes, I don’t speak english. Is this a sin ???And yes, I am not american. Is this a sin too ???I apologize for not having been born in your glorious country and for only speak three languages but, unfortunately, not the english…Do you know that “Three’s company” is a remake of a british series ???Why can’t I do a drawing of an american series that copies an European series ???
Why can’t I do a drawing like that if another person as done a similar before ???
Why can’t I do it in my style or even better ???Few years ago I did a drawing of the Eiffel tower and I would like to say to all american like you that if they make a drawing of the Eifffel tower they will be copying me. And Joan, you are a fraud too.You are copied the post of Tasha here and the comments of other persons who think that my drawings are a copy of fantasy Floorplans. Are you proud of plagiarisng the comments of others ???
