The incredibly funny and super self-aware comedy Don’t Trust the B in Apt. 23 cracked me up during its first season. Just thinking about James Van Der Beek playing James Van Der Beek as I sit here typing this up makes me smile. (ROTFS to be exact. But that’s only because I convey all my emotions while rolling on the floor. And I’ve been doing that for a lot longer than ROTFL has been around.)
As if I wasn’t already psyched to see my friends Chloe (Krysten Ritter) and June (Dreama Walker) return to TV in a few weeks, I now hear the insane news that Mark-Paul Gosselaar and Frankie Muniz will guest star this season…as themselves!
Entertainment Weekly says, “In the episode, Van Der Beek attempts to pull off a Dawson’s Creek reunion, and crosses paths with other actors who also served as the stars of their own shows, such as Gosselaar and Muniz.”
Genius! Absolute brilliance. The man who played Zach Morris returns to TV as the man who played Zach Morris. Expect at least 6 acid-washed jean jokes. And one massive cell phone prop.
It’s so wonderfully meta I can barely take it. Three former teen idols (I’m throwing Frankie a bone here) playing themselves on one show. What did a girl do to get so lucky?
Besides risk her weekend plans by staying up past her bedtime to watch Dawson’s Creek back in the ’90s.
I’m so excited that I could go take a bushel of caffeine pills, crash Lisa Turtle’s car and report Mr. Belding to the state’s education board for crossing every possible adult-student boundary that exists at school.
