I’m a Gleek. Always have been, always will be. The first half of the first season of Glee was absolutely glorious television, charming, heartfelt, uplifting, and hilarious, and I’ve been along for the ride ever since.
Much of that hilarity — the vast majority in fact — was brought to us courtesy of the immensely talented Emmy-winner Jane Lynch and her harsh but hilarious quips as cheerleading coach Sue Sylvester. And her facial expressions — my God her facial expressions.
Although Glee may be the show Jane is most recognized for, is only a section of a prolific career that has spanned over two decades. If you check out her IMBD page, like she mentions, you’ll see this casual statistic: Actress (161 titles). Not to mention 67 titles as herself, as she has hosted countless awards shows, appeared on SNL, and the like.
But now, Jane has embarked on a new project, National College Finance Center, to help teens figure out the best way to pay for college, and go into the payment process with their “eyes wide open,” as she says, about the possibilities of loans and debt.
And it is thanks to this venture that I got the incredible opportunity to speak to her about why the project is so important to her, the upcoming season of Glee, and most importantly, Cindi Lightballoon.
