The online pop-o-sphere has been very excited these past couple of days over one Madison Beer, a 13-year-old girl who sprang from Justin Bieber‘s forehead overnight to wow us with her powerful voice and ability to improvise a whole bunch of extra notes. Is this the next Carly Rae Jepsen?
Young Ms. Beer first rose to internet fame yesterday (seems like only yesterday!) when the Biebs tweeted a link to the above video, saying “wow. 13 years old! she can sing. great job #futurestar” And judging from the video, he’s right. I’m a little uncomfortable with the way she’s making sex eyes at the camera, but the girl has quite the voice for pop music. Someone get that kid in a crop top!
He also tweeted out her Bruno Mars “mash-up” video, saying that it reminds him of how he, himself, got started:
She even has the same affected “ghetto” accent as him! At least, as far as I can tell. I bet she’s from Canada, too.
Because Justin Bieber’s fans do whatever Justin Bieber says, thousands of people have already viewed her Youtube videos, prompting her to tweet: “
@justinbieberOMGOGMFHAHDBSBAWHEBSBSHHWEHHDXHSHHAFBBAGEEHYBT I CANT BELIEVE THIS IS HAPPENING. I AM CRYING.” As any teen pop fan would, when being singled out for praise by Justin Bieber.
It remains to be seen if she can write a song as catchy as “Call Me Maybe,” but judging from all the attention she’s gotten in the last 24 hours alone, she definitely has a chance to “make this moment count,” as it were.
