The delicious sneak peek goodies continue to gurgle out of San Diego’s Comic-Con, and the newest is a sneak peek of the upcoming season of Dexter. Last season ended with Dexter, played by Michael C. Hall being discovered mid-murder by none other than Deb, played by his real-life ex-wife Jennifer Carpenter. Whaaaaat’s gonna happen this season?
I have to be honest with you for a second. I’m currently working my way through Dexter on Netflix, but I’ve only finished Season Two, so there were some super mega spoilers in here for me. That said, I’m not even that mad, I’m just extra intrigued now. The clip isn’t a montage like I’ve come to expect from teaser trailers — it’s just one unbroken scene with Dexter trying to talk Deb down and explain himself without giving away the fact that he’s a serial killer. She’s obviously seen him mid-kill, so he can’t talk his way out of that murder. But he does try to explain it by saying that it was a one-time thing — revenge for the death of Rita. Oh great, so Rita died? SPOILER ALERT. Mehhhh. It’s my own fault for not being up-to-date on the season. But at least I can vouch for the fact that it’s a compelling clip even if you aren’t caught up, right?
Being a teaser, of course the clip has to finish with a cliff-hanger, so it’s no surprise that it ends with Deb starting to make a phone call to get the rest of the station to come down. With a tell-tale twitch of his cheek, Dexter shouts, “No!” and takes a step toward her, and then the clip is over. Sooo…is he gonna kill Deb? Or talk her down? Or what? I have no way to even speculate, but either way it looks like it’s gonna be a hell of a season.
