In the last Step Up Revolution webisode from ClevverTV, we met Kathryn McCormick and Ryan Guzman, the leads of the fourth Step Up installment. And while it’s great to see their chemistry on- and off-screen, what about the rest of the cast? After all, in addition to the group dance scenes that characterize the last three movies, this one promises to have “dance mobs”—massive groups of dancers performing political flash mobs at beach clubs and on the city streets.
Talking about the cast, someone says, “From the beginning, they formed this little family.” You have to have that kind of close bonding if you’re going to be relying on your fellow dancers in intense sequences, not to mention to match your characters’ close relationships. It’s like that old saying, it takes a village to create a dance mob. You’ve need your tech guy Jason (Stephen “tWitch” Boss) on the lights, DJ Penelope (Cleopatra Coleman) keeping everyone hyped up with a beat, and the resident graffiti artist Mercury (Michael Langebek) to make sure the dance mob is all over the city.
What’s really cool is seeing the actors and dancers share techniques and styles — trick, hip-hop, parkour — with one another. It’s clear that they’re excited to learn from each other and incorporate new moves into their dancing. Check out the webisode above, and don’t miss Step Up Revolution when it krumps into theaters on July 27!
