Let’s talk for a hot sec about Prom Queens, Lifetime’s new reality show that follows potential prom queens around their high schools. 8 high schools to be exact. Yep, there will be 8 hour-long episodes about 8 groups of girls vying to be voted their school’s prom queen.
Which makes me say really?!
That sounds the opposite of interesting to me. But I’ve been out of high school now for 8/10th of a decade. So maybe I’m just out of touch with what matters to high school girls. Also, I went to a small high school that didn’t even have a football team. Our homecoming game was a volleyball game.
So it wasn’t exactly a traditional She’s All That experience. Girls freely wore ponytails around the hallways of my school without the fear of being picked on by a popular jock trying to win a bet. Or the fear that they would be busted as an undercover reporter for The Chicago Sun-Times.
Still, even knowing that, I can’t imagine that average people will be interested in this show. Isn’t the majority of campaigning just being popular in high school. Will the cameras just follow them around from class to class? If so, bo-ring. Like anyone wants to relive those high school classes. Or even worse for current high school students, double on on those classes.
Or do they?
You tell me! Did you care about prom queens in high school and do you still care now?
