Is it me, or does it seem like the Catching Fire producers are waiting til the very last minute to announce the cast? They’re supposed to start shooting in September (for next November’s release date), and so far we’ve met only one new cast member. But what an addition she is! Jena Malone has officially been offered the role of Johanna Mason, says The Hollywood Reporter.
Jena is in talks to accept the offer, which means we’re likely to have a fairly big name attached to the project. Moreso than an unknown like the other rumored frontrunner, model Zoe Aggeliki, anyway. Jena was last seen in the Civil War drama miniseries Hatfields & McCoys, which sort of matches Suzanne Collins‘ dystopian world. Except she better get ready to not be wearing any clothes, since our first introduction to Johanna has her stripping out of her tribute parade costume in a tantrum when she encounters Katniss (Jennifer Lawrence) in the elevator.
Jena isn’t on Twitter as far as we know, but we hope that she joins up so she can emulate last year’s tributes like Leven Rambin and Amandla Stenberg in posting fun photos and videos of their on-set adventures. But before then, let’s find out who’s playing Finnick Odair and the other Quarter Quell victors!
