Just like Family Guy, Seth MacFarlane‘s Ted establishes a world where everyone takes for granted that this magical teddy bear eats, shits, drinks, and screws like any normal human. In fact, we see Ted get more action than Mark Wahlberg and Mila Kunis as the movie’s human couple. But I don’t think MacFarlane could’ve predicted this: Stuffed-animal fetishists who call themselves “plushies” find Ted sexy. Really, really sexy.
According to TMZ, porn site Clips4Sale has reached out to MacFarlane begging him to release clips that they can use on their site. Not just to add to their collection — which includes such categories as Ballbusting and Superheroines — but to make Ted the site’s actual mascot. They wrote the Family Guy creator what you have to assume was a flattering letter: “Not since Alf has there been this kind of excitement over a stuffed animal. We are very serious and would like to engage in talks with you at your earliest convenience.”
I mean, it’s a pretty brilliant marketing move. In the weeks leading up to Ted‘s release, the bear popped up in an AXE Hair commercial; and honestly, Clips4Sale is the kind of site he’d peruse while sitting on the couch stoned and jobless. And in case you’re wondering exactly what plushies are… The term “plushie” can apply to all stuffed-animal enthusiasts, sexual and not, but “plushophiles” are the ones who are a subset of the furry fandom and get off on the thought of “yiffing,” or anthropomorphic animal sex. But so far there’s been no response from MacFarlane.
If you need help scrubbing your brain like I do, here’s a fun video of MacFarlane-as-Ted riffing on other famous bears: Fozzie Bear, Teddy Ruxpin, Snuggles (my favorite), and the Care Bears.
