Tyler Perry Didn’t Like Prometheus, So Naturally He’s Writing His Own Sci-Fi Movie

Tyler Perry Prometheus writing sci-fi Alien Madea's Witness Protection wtfThis is so typical Tyler Perry. Most people who saw Prometheus were at the very least let down, and at the most sat there after the credits rolled desperately asking each other, “Why did this movie suck?” (Yeah, that was me and my friend I brought to the advance screening.) But we focus on the good, like Michael Fassbender and the dubious origin of the Alien, and chalked this up to too high expectations.

Not Tyler Perry. No, the man behind Madea’s Witness Protection has taken it upon himself to write his own science fiction film. Interviewing the filmmaker at the premiere of this movie we can’t believe actually got made, BlackFilm got the exclusive: Perry revealed that he’s apparently an avid sci-fi fan, having grown up on Ridley Scott‘s Alien films.

Perry: I love Sci Fi, I love the Alien movies and the Alien franchise. I was very disappointed with Prometheus, but I love that whole franchise. Those are my favorite movies. I’m actually working on a sci-fi movie right now.

BlackFilm: Can you tell us a little bit about that?

Perry: No but I’m writing a sci-fi movie that I’m really excited about.

He’s crafty, I’ll give him that—pique our curiosity and then play coy. He really can’t tell us if we’re dealing with Mars missions or invading aliens or time travel? I don’t know how to respond to this news. My other blogger friends seem mostly tickled and expect to laugh their way through it; even if it’s not Madea in Space, it’ll still be a clusterfuck. I feel like he’s going to play it really serious, not go for some parody like Galaxy Quest, and how successful he is will be measured by the hooting laughter coming from the theater. It’s just so absurd!

…Wait, Tyler Perry was in Star Trek? What the fuck.

Well by all means, let the man write a sci-fi adventure now. At least then we’ll have something worse than Prometheus.
