Last week’s episode of Real Housewives of New Jersey left us wondering what would happen to the friendship of Teresa Giudice and Jacqueline Laurita. It left off on a very blurry note with finals words said (Caroline and Jacqueline both saying they needed their space) and Teresa giving kisses. I was confused and frustrated with the lack of clarity on what exactly happened after the fight on the back porch.
Last night’s episode picked up the next morning with each of the three women reflecting on fight. Caroline’s as stern as ever, promising that she’s done with Teresa for good. Jacqueline can be heard crying from behind a closed door and then confesses in her interview that she had a complete breakdown and wishes things could be different. Teresa’s talking with her idiot husband, Joe Giudice, about the fight. He gives horrible advice and seems annoyed to even be talking to his wife (but it’s like, can we blame him?). He calls Jacqueline a “dodo bird” which I assume is an insult he picked up from his 7 year old daughter Milania and yells at Teresa when she keeps talking about it. The three women seem to be at their wits ends with one another, and there was only more drama to follow.
After the women vent, we find the wonderful and my personal favorite housewife at the moment, Kathy Waikle, getting a call from Teresa asking if she would like to grab some lunch. She’s a little skeptical, but loves her cousin and obviously wants to make it work. She meets up with Teresa for lunch, and they begin to discuss their relationship. Kathy isn’t an idiot and knows that the main reason Teresa wanted to meet up with Kathy was because she needs soldiers for her army. Though Kathy knows this, she has a heart of gold and gives her cousin the benefit of the doubt. They bond over old baby clothes and photos and all seems right with the world.
Everything comes to a head at Melissa Gorga’s song release party. Everyone is there in full force, especially Rosie! She’s rocking a sweet newsboy hat, and I am even more at the feet of Miss Rosie. Besides Rosie being awesome and completely wasted for the whole party, you can cut the tension in the room with a knife. Everyone is talking about the back porch fight with Teresa except for Jacqueline who kind of just sits there uncomfortably and is kind of speechless while Caroline takes the wheel and rambles on and on. The champagne keeps pouring and people keep talking and worrying and making evil eyes at each other from across the room. Teresa Giudice and Joe Gorga come to common ground for once and decide that many counseling is the best thing for them.
The saddest part about Teresa trying to mend her broken relationships with her brother and her cousin is that it’s not genuine. She just wants people to be on her side. It’s always about Teresa and that is the sad, sad truth. She doesn’t want to mend these relationships because she loves them that much and wants there to be peace within her family, but because other friendships are crumbling–the friendships that she had as support when things with her family were suffering. This all is being concocted to work in her favor and for her benefit.
When Jacqueline and Teresa finally talk at the party, Teresa plays victim and tells Jacqueline that she “f–ked up” and that she’s so hurt and blahblahblah. Jacqueline calls her on her bullshit and basically asks her why she is the only one allowed to be hurt in a situation, and no one else is allowed to be upset. Teresa’s being made into a villain this season, but rightfully so! She’ salways manipulating others and showing the worst version of herself to date (I am including the table-flipping incident in this, people). She uses Melissa’s party as an opportunity to take the spotlight and shine it right on herself. I’m not sure what Teresa believes will come from half-heartedly mending her family ties and writing off her friends of fifteen years, but everyone can see through the bull. She has completely switched teams and that kind of person should never be trusted. Teresa Giudice: The Shadiest Woman in New Jersey.
