In an age of texting, g-chatting and sexting, it’s absolutely amazing that a song about calling someone turned into our national anthem this summer. It’s clinically proven by 4 out of 5 dentists that you can now hear Carly Rae Jepsen’s hit song “Call Me Maybe” everywhere you go. The catchy lyrics and simplistic message led to approximately one billion parodies that float aimlessly around the interweb just waiting for their turn to go viral.
Now the Canadian superstar’s back again with her follow-up song to “Call Me Maybe,” and we’re already trying to get it out of our heads. Yes, it’s that catchy. While it’s far too early to say whether “Good Time” will be as big as “Call Me Maybe,” it’s safe to say that it used the exact same pop music formula.
Simple lyrics with no deep message or sexual metaphors. Just a girl who’s looking to have a good time. With Owl City.
Yes, this is a collaboration with Owl City. Remember them? They wrote that super high-school-vibes song “Fireflies” way back in the ’00s. They’ve teamed up with our girl Carly in hopes that this summer can handle one more hit song.
While I don’t see myself doing the worm alone in my room to this song like I do with “Call Me Maybe,” I can picture myself dancing manically to it in the bars at night.
What do you think??
