For Fathers’ Day this past weekend, LeAnn Rimes gave her newish husband Eddie Cibriani a ‘Favorite Things’ cake. That meant that it had all of Eddie’s favorite things on it, aka a replica of him and LeAnn in bed together while replicas of Eddie’s two children from his previous marriage, Mason and Jake, look on. In theory having a Fathers Day cake with fondant statues of your family isn’t that weird. But it gets a little creepy for me that the two of them are in bed together while the two kids who aren’t hers stand basically at the foot of the bed. Couldn’t everyone just be holding hands on the top? Or individually spaced around it? This makes it seem like Eddie’s favorite thing is having frosting sex on a cake while his kids watch. Boooo creepy infidelity cake.
I guess it also bothers me the way that this relationship started. I know that it shouldn’t, and it’s none of my business, but both of these people left their spouses for each other. They were in other marriages when they met and started their affair, and when the press found out about it, they lied repeatedly and said that nothing was happening. So clearly that was a lie, because they’re married now, but how am I supposed to feel about this? It just all feels very ‘in your face’…why not stay a little more under the radar? I get that they’re married now, so it’s all above-board, but decorating a cake with your stepsons and putting yourself in bed with their dad on top is a little brazen, right? I mean, you’re the woman who broke up their mother’s marriage. You both denied it for a long time, but now we’ve just accepted it and it’s cake material? That’s not how I roll.
I guess I’m a little old-fashioned in that it’s hard for me to ever be completely comfortable with a relationship that started with infidelity. Even Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, all these years later, I don’t know how not to be bothered by that. If I’d broken up someone’s marriage, I don’t know that I’d ever even be able to look their kids in the eye, much less send a tweet to their mom telling her to have a good time in Hawaii, like LeAnn did to Brandi Glanville, Eddie’s ex-wife.
I guess acting normally is probably the best way to continue on with your life after a big shake-up like that, but I don’t know that I’ll ever be able to get behind that philosophy.
