An old photo of Emma Watson drinking a beer resurfaced on the interwebs this weekend and started popping up on many of the websites that I frequent. Probably because DrunkHarryPotterActors.net is my homepage and BritishCelebsWhoAttendedBrown.gov is my go-to site whenever I’m bored by Facebook stalking.
How and why I rediscovered this photo really isn’t that important (but thanks Buzzfeed, you win the Internet game again). I’m not here to impress you with my Christopher Columbus like skills. I’m here to share my Internet finds with you to see if we all feel the same emotions upon seeing the same photos. According to all the “fire Jenni Maier” tweets sent to @Crushabledotcom recently, we apparently don’t.
But how about we try this again and see if this photo of a young Emma Watson makes us all want to drunk dial her and insist she meet us at a bar right now. Yes, right now. On Monday morning. Screw work, screw school, screw the fact that this plan might require us to travel abroad. Let’s just go with it for a second and pretend like it could happen.
Because I want it to. Emma looks so fun and so carefree in this photo. While I love seeing her during interviews and in photoshoots, she always comes off as very put together. We don’t usually get to see her slouched over in a booth with an empty Corona in her hands. I wish we did.
I also wish more celebrity interviews took place at a bar. And not at some chic restaurant where the actress orders a burger (despite her trim figure) and talks “candidly” about her relationships and career. How much more fun would the answers be if alcohol got involved.
Can’t you see it now?
“As Dakota Fanning licked the salt off her hand, stuck the lime in her mouth and ordered another tequila shot, I realized that the young actress got into the bar using a fake ID. I brought this up and she looked at my coyly. ‘Want to see it?’ she asked, ‘or would you rather see the cock shot that this producer I’m working with just sent me.’ She threw her head back and laughed knowing that she would never show me either one. Then, as she reached into her bag and pretended to get her phone out her bag, she knocked over my club soda. ‘bartender!’ she shrieks, ‘get the lady a jager bomb, she needs to loosen up!’”
It’s great fun, right? Like reading your friend’s incoherent drunk text messages in the morning, except without any of the typos and spelling mistakes.
Perhaps, we should insist on celebrity interviews happening at bars. Start a petition or a Pinterest page or something. As this Emma Watson photo proves, everyone’s more fun after they’ve had a drink.
Bonus: Balance out drunk Emma with awkward teen Emma, in an adorable photo with Harry Potter co-star Matthew Lewis.
