That Pregnancy Rumor Sure Was Good Timing For Teen Mom‘s Catelynn Lowell

Catelynn Lowell Tyler Baltierra not pregnant college wedding date pregnancy counselorYesterday, In Touch tried to get away with a story about Teen Mom‘s Catelynn Lowell and Tyler Baltierra expecting a second baby. The story was tabloid gold, what with Catelynn’s entire reality-star identity based on the fact that she didn’t know how to use birth control at the age of 16, and her potentially unresolved angst about giving their first child Carly up for adoption in 2010. However, the Teen Mom stars are all pretty savvy on the Twitters, and Catelynn quickly shot down the story.

Interesting, then, that Catelynn and Tyler are headlining another celebrity magazine: Us Weekly, which got the exclusive interview all about what these crazy kids are actually up to. She assures Us that having another kid is at the very bottom of her list and that she’s been dutifully taking the pill so as not to have another unplanned pregnancy. In fact, Catelynn (a freshman in college) is studying to become a pregnancy counselor, while sophomore Tyler wants to work at a juvenile detention center helping at-risk youth.

One adult thing they are still planning is their wedding next July at Canterbury Village in Michigan. And they hope that baby Carly can be there; showing surprising self-awareness, Tyler told the magazine,

“It would mean the world to me if Carly was at our wedding, because if it wasn’t for her, I don’t think we would be this far in our relationship and probably wouldn’t be getting married. She totally solidified our whole relationship.”

That’s all good and sweet, but this is way too calculated for my tastes. I mean, it could be that Us managed to track down Catelynn for a statement yesterday, and then both parties decided it would be mutually beneficial to actually find out what the reality star is up to. Or maybe Catelynn has her own “people” who leaked the original story to In Touch so that she could turn around and defy expectations by having this awesome, mature future planned out. Either way, those kids know how to handle their press.
