Sandra Bullock and Melissa McCarthy have both just signed on for an as-yet-untitled cop comedy — and here come those words that are music to everyone’s ears — directed by Joe Feig, who directed Bridesmaids. Tra la la, tra la laaaaa Bridesmaids shall rise again and it will be just as good and we will all laugh and be glorious friends together in movie theaters across the country. Or it could be just a normal movie. We don’t know yet, people!
No, but really nothing has been released about the movie yet except for the following sentence: “the strained working relationship between a high-strung FBI agent (Bullock) and an unconventional Boston cop (McCarthy) who team up to take down a Russian gangster”. It sounds interesting, I just worry that playing an FBI agent will be a real strain for Sandra after those chilling cop thrillers Miss Congeniality and Miss Congeniality 2: Armed and Fabulous. I can never remember — which of those did she win her Oscar for?
I make joke, but I’m actually pretty excited to see this. I’m gonna try not to do what everybody’s gonna do, and compare it to that other movie that I mentioned before, but I really like both these actresses and I’m psyched they’re back doing comedy. Well, I guess Melissa never really left comedy, and she apparently has like…four different projects that she’s working on right now. But lil’ Miss Sandra’s been pretty choosy since getting that golden statue man, so I welcome her back to cheesy comedies with open arms. Extra cheese. The cheesier the better.
