Well, let me by the first to declare this the week that The Fresh Prince of Bel Air theme song came back in full force. Yes we’ve all sung it for years and yes we all know what happens when you’re born and raised in West Philadelphia. But I feel like this is the first time in a long time we’re discussing the song two days in a row!
Yesterday the interweb went wild for for Will Smith leading the audience in a rousing rendition of the theme song on The Graham Norton Show and today this magically wonderful video of someone pranking a Christian call-in show with the lyrics started making the rounds.
Now let me preface with the fact that this video first showed up on Youtube in 2010. That’s two whole years ago. Were you even born then? Maybe, maybe not. It’s so long ago that I can hardly remember what was in and who was cool and what I watched on Youtube back then. So my advance apologies if you’ve seen this before.
But for the rest of us who don’t subscribe to Christian Show Pranks on our Google alerts, this video should be new and you should love it. I don’t want to spoil it for you, but I do want to give you a few background deets so you can get amped up to watch it.
Basically there’s a Christian advice show where people can send in letters if they’re seeking wisdom from a woman on TV. A woman who I suppose must be on a constant 3-way call with Jesus Christ. Otherwise, she would be completely unqualified to just dole out advice. That’s just science.
So anyways, some genius submitted the lyrics to Fresh Prince to the show. The woman, let’s call her God Jr., takes the letter seriously and grows increasingly concerned when she hears exactly what went down in West Philly.
Watch. Laugh. Enjoy. ROTFL. Get off the floor. Send it to all your friends. Get back on the floor and continue ROTFLing.
