For those of you who don’t live in New York City, you are truly missing out. Not only do we see celebrities on a regular basis, but we’re surrounded by some of the greatest restaurants in the world. One such restaurant is Momofuku Noodle Bar in the East Village.
Momofuku was opened by chef David Chang, and since then as become not only an East Village staple, but a place you go to for both comfort food and fancy food. Chang is also known for his mean fried chicken, and apparently, so is Questlove from the Roots. So what do two people do when they think their chicken is the best? They battle it out in a competition.
First the two gentlemen took to Late Night with Jimmy Fallon and had guests Tina Fey and Mad Men‘s John Slattery decide on which made a finer fried chicken. Now they’re letting the public decide on this one-night only event. I’m not even going to get into just how difficult it was to get a reservation or the fact that it’s practically a miracle that we did.
On May 11th at 10am, the email address was announced, and everyone I knew was trying to make a reservation (you had to be a party of six; no more, no less), and everyone I knew all day complained about the “rejection” email they got. However, one of my friends was able to score us a place at the table tonight. Instead of Chang’s drumsticks tonight, it will be Questlove manning the ship and all proceeds from the evening will be going to the Food Bank of New York City.
So to recap: Questlove is making me dinner tonight.
