Nick Stahl is one of those names that you don’t immediately know, but you recognize his face from genre movies like Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines and Sin City, as well as the acclaimed HBO series Carnivàle. Though he gives celebrated performances, he’s not often in the public eye. Unfortunately, the first news we’ve heard about him in a while is bad: His wife Rose reported him missing yesterday morning.
The LAPD confirms that Rose contacted them at 10 a.m. on May 15th, claiming that she hadn’t seen Nick since May 9th. Of course, their relationship is fraught: They’ve been allegedly separated since January, and in February they worked out visitation rules for him to see their two-year-old daughter Marlo. He was allowed only eight hours a week, and he had to pass a drug test within 24 hours of each visit.
So, it seems as if drugs are a major factor in Nick’s disappearance. Sources tell TMZ that Nick may have recently been frequenting Los Angeles’ Skid Row area and that he’s fallen in with bad people. I’m curious how a situation like that plays out in Hollywood—I would imagine his movie and TV career is impressive enough that he has a fair amount of money. I wonder if it’s a matter of an actor partaking in drugs, or getting taken advantage of.
We hope that Nick will be found soon and put into rehab so that he’s not further endangering himself.
