5 Facts About 16 And Pregnant Star Sarah Roberts

4. Often on 16 and Pregnant and Teen Mom, we witness how the young women have had to give up their dreams in favor of motherhood. But despite Sarah’s desire to become a journalist, the dream we spent the most time on was Blake’s plan to work on a shrimping boat. At first he works a job in the area, although because it’s a night shift he sleeps all day anyway and isn’t around to help with Tinleigh.

But after Sarah’s mom nags at him to put “at least $10 a week” (seriously, that’s all?) toward the baby, he decides to go down south and join up on a shrimping boat. When he and Sarah next talk on the phone and she blames him for leaving her in the lurch, he says, “You always knew I was going to do this.” So, by the end of the episode she’s basically a single mom.

5. Unlike the other 16 and Pregnant moms this season, Sarah didn’t reconcile with Blake after the cameras stopped rolling. According to a recent tweet, they’re not together and she’s still raising Tinleigh alone. As much as I feel for her in what must be a difficult situation, I’m also glad to see a realistic situation where she and the babydaddy didn’t get engaged out of some obligation.

I’m also really impressed with the message she posted on her Facebook fan page before her episode aired last night. She mentioned that even though she knows her situation is not everyone’s thing, she still hopes people will take her story seriously:

I also hope everyone takes the time to understand it took a lot of courage for me, as well as my family and friends, to be filmed and share my story. I chose to do this show in hopes of helping SOMEONE. So, if you feel the need to voice your concerns with my episode, please do it as respectfully as possible.

Good luck, Sarah. We probably won’t see you on Teen Mom 3, but we hope for the best for you and Tinleigh.
