Here’s an odd story: At some big screening for Glee in Hollywood last night, Amber Riley fainted on the red carpet. Just got dizzy and collapsed, no explanation—although my first guess is exhaustion, from not eating maybe, or from the strenuous dance moves the kids are put through. Her explanation over Twitter was a bit suspect, however; outside of a dramatic movie like The Bodyguard, I don’t think I’ve ever heard of a celebrity losing her ability to walk from some flashing cameras.
Hey guys, I’m okay I got a little dizzy from all the photog flashes! You’d think I’s be used to it by now, still a red carpet amateur I guess. Gonna get checked out but I feel fine. Thank you for all the concern and well wishes.
But the weirdest part is that no one captured the moment. Despite the fact that paparazzi were the cause of Amber’s collapse, not a single photographer took advantage of the situation and snapped a photo of the Glee actress sprawled on the carpet. She tweeted,
I’d also like to thank the photographers for being do professional and not taking photos of me on the ground. I truly truly appreciate it. Could have been super embarrassing.
At first I thought this was such a sweet gesture, but then my inner cynic took over. Because if it were Lea Michele – who’s certainly dropped a ton of weight since appearing in the pilot as curvy Rachel Berry — or Dianna Agron, I bet the photographers would be shoving each other out of the way to capture every angle of this surprising moment. Sorry to say, but I think that Amber falling simply wasn’t an interesting enough story.
Fame or not, Amber is keen on the Hollywood rumor mill and made sure to dispel any and all scandalous possibilities for her fainting episode:
Lol. Let me stop the rumor mill right now. I’m not pregnant! Yes I’m black but I don’t have diabetes, I don’t starve myself to fit clothes; I buy clothes to fit ME not vice versa, I DO NOT DIET; I eat right and exercise! I love myself waaaay more than I like my career. I would never ever put myself in harm’s way to mirror any “image”. Come on ppl. Get a life. I did get a great laugh this morning reading all the BS though lol
Or she could’ve let sites like ours draw their own conclusions and get some more coverage. Just sayin’.
