A few years ago, Seth Rogen and Jay Baruchel made a comedy short called Jay and Seth vs. the Apocalypse in which they played themselves, holed up in an abandoned building during — you guessed it — the end of the world. The fake trailer had some funny (and foulmouthed) riffing from the Knocked Up co-stars and brought up the interesting concept of seeing celebrities go to shit like the rest of us once the aliens take over/technology becomes self-aware/a meteor hits Earth.
Now, they’re developing this short into a full-length film called End of the World, and they’re enlisting a bunch more celebrities to poke fun at themselves while the apocalypse rages. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Jason Segel and David Krumholtz are already set to cameo as themselves, with Emma Watson (!) also in negotiations. They would join other famous funny faces Craig Robinson, Jonah Hill, and Danny McBride, who are all stuck in James Franco‘s apartment as they face their fate.
Judging from the faux-bleakness of the original short, many of these pretty faces will probably die horrible but hilarious deaths. Here’s the original video so you can get a feel for the mood:
