Dear Hunger Games Casting Gods: Please Don’t Cast Robert Pattinson As Finnick Odair

Like every other diehard Hunger Games fan, I’m extremely excited to see who gets cast in its sequel Catching Fire. Obviously our favorites like Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson will be back — but who gets to play huge roles like Finnick Odair and Betee is still up in the air.

While reading Catching Fire, I always imagined the gorgeous and charismatic Finnick Odair to be played by someone gorgeous and charismatic. So you can imagine my disappointment when I saw the latest fan chatter that Twihards are hoping that Robert Pattinson gets cast in the role.

The article says:

In all truthfulness, it is Rob’s physical appearance that’s partly (mostly?) responsible for the Twilight heart-throb being considered as a natural for the role of Finnick Odair. A 20-something from District 4 who actually won the Games 10 years before, Finnick is described in the books as “one of the most attractive people in the world.” Sounds a lot like Edward Cullen doesn’t he? At least physically anyway. Twihards who are also Hunger Games fans would be ecstatic.

I completely understand that seeing Edward Cullen playing a major role in Catching Fire would make Twihard hearts explode into millions of little vampire pieces. But for those of us who never got into Twilight and the Robert-Pattinson-mania, it just wouldn’t work. Not only do I not find him to be all that dreamy, but I also can’t look at him without picturing vampires, werewolves and Kristen Stewart’s smile-free face. It would completely distract from the movie.

Also, to be completely middle-school about this whole thing, it’s just not fair that an actor would get to star in two blockbuster franchises. That would be like Daniel Radcliffe playing Betee. It’s just not the way it works in the Hollywood rule book that lives in my head. You get ONE huge franchise during your career. Then you’re on your own when it comes to making tweens love you and swoon over you and cause mall stampedes over you.

So in case the casting gods are reading this, I ask you not to cast Robert Pattinson. You wouldn’t want Katniss to have to shoot him when he tried to bite her neck.

I would cry. I’ve always seen Finnick as an unknown actor – in fact, I think casting him as someone famous would destroy his mystique. I’m more interested in who will play Annie, though. I love Annie.

Okay, even IF the part was offered to Robert he would not take it. That is all.

  • Rose

Isn’t Finnick sopposed to be handsom?

  • rachy

they wont make the offer to robert pattinson. he’s too well known for twilight it would be too weird- i cant imagine him getting picked for a second

you said it’s not fair for actor to appear in several franchises and it’s not the way hollywood works but dear you are wrong! Harrison Ford was in star wars and indiana jones two of the most famous franchices in the history of cinema even Robert pattinson himself has been in two different franchises Twilight and Harry Potter. But i doubt the rumor is true one: RP is trying throw off his teen idol image for a more mature image he is in talks to work in a new film with D.cronenberg they work previously in cosmopolis.
two: THG is the antitwilight for alot of people and even the producers know that and they try to play that out in a subtle way (smart PR) they know hiring R.P would be a stupid decision and they would loose a part of the fans (and their money) so don’t worry it wont happend, it would be a bad decision on both parts

I would be interested to see Robert play Finnick.
At least it would be a male actor in THG that girls, wait people, are actually interested in. Unlike actors like Josh Hutcherson and Miley Cyrus’s boyfriend who are constantly being pushed by the media as “hunks”…NONE of us are buying it. lmao!

  • bellsy boo luves THOR!

eeerr sorry Rpattz but i know that i just recntly got to liking you but you arent god material, you need to be buffer and stronger. maybe if it they were picking someone from twilight they could pick either Kellan Lutz or Taylor Lautner. even if werent in twilight they would make good gods and Kellan Lutz did play Poiseden in immortals i think so he already has experience. also CHRIS HEMSWORTH WOULD BE TOTALLY AWESOME FOR THAT ROLE!!!!!! HE TOO HAS PLAYIN A GOD EXPERIENCE BEING A GOD! :) CAUSE HE WAS THE GOD OF THUND IN HIS MOVIE THOR!!!!!! WHICH AM PLANNING TO WATCH AFTER THIS! HEHEHEHEHE!!! BUT THEM THREE DEFINATELY TAYLOR LAUTNER! CHRIS HEMSWERTH AND KELLAN LUTZ!!!!

I think Taylor Kitsch would make a great Finnick Odair…just think of his role on “Friday Night Lights” as Tim Riggins. He could bring the sexy and the humor that is perfect for Finnick!

  • Essie

Taylor Kitsch would make a perfect Finnick Odair.

  • Andrea

I love twilight and THG , but i don´t want rob in the hunger games pleeeaseee! don’t do that! you’ll ruin it… Twilight and THG are two very different things and i love both but it wouldn’t be ok to mix them up…PS: sorry for my english ;)

  • Mike

No, just no, twilight needs to stay the hell away from THG, not only is it being wrongly compared since the movies release, we need someone who can actually act to play Finnick, something Pattinson has never been able to do. Sorry Twihards, you are completely wrong, Pattinson is not out of THGs league, he is arguably one of the most laughable actors of the past ten years and would be lucky to be offered the role of Finnick, but he won’t since THG is way out of his league.

  • Emilee

    God, ANYONE but Robert Pattinson.

  • As If

Robert Pattinson doesn’t need or want The Hunger Games, or its overrated cast.

In case you hadn’t noticed kiddies, he’s a grown-up now.

    • Kris

oh is that so? so he’s a big boy and can’t participate in such childish movies..like the Twilight series?! lol Don’t get me wrong, I’m sure he’s an outgoing and mature individual..after all he does hang with Kristen Stewart..and we all know she’s the epitome of Mature… ;)

You’re right on the money for that one sister….
