Frances Bean Cobain is not known for her willingness to play the celebrity game. Despite, or perhaps because of, her tumultuous and tabloid-y mother, she lives her life out of the spotlight and seems amazingly well-adjusted and normal. But when her mom Courtney Love delivered an insane twitter rant alleging, among other things, that Frances had slept with Dave Grohl, she felt the need to speak up, and she did so in the most concise and cutting way possible.
In a statement released yesterday evening via her publicist, Frances writes:
While I’m generally silent on the affairs of my biological mother, her recent tirade has taken a gross turn. I have never been approached by Dave Grohl in more than a platonic way. I’m in a monogamous relationship and very happy.
Twitter should ban my mother.
“Biological mother”? Oof. That phrase speaks volumes about how Frances must feel about her mom, who lost custody of her several times throughout her childhood. Considering the lengths she went to to get away from her (up to and including a restraining order), Frances has showed an impressive amount of restraint when speaking about her in public. Let’s hope Courtney takes this as a warning sign not to push her, and Twitter takes this as a warning sign that they should take away Courtney’s account forever.
