Fun fact: Ellen DeGeneres, talk show host extraordinaire, originally played a minor character in Titanic. Minor in the sense that she only had a few minutes of screen time, major in the sense that she had screen time in one of the film’s most iconic scenes. No, that wasn’t her hand in the car. But it was her hand doing something else.
Watch the short clip and see if James Cameron was wrong to cut her out of the original movie. Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet have remained silent on the entire incident, but I think we know what they would say: the more Ellen, the better.
In fact, the more dance dares, the better. Maybe if they did one dance dare right before the ship split in half, everyone would have been in more jovial moods. Maybe.
Or maybe if Jack let Cal paint him like he paints his French girls, he wouldn’t have been such a douchebag. So many maybes in Titanic, so little Ellen.
