The Situation might be freshly out of rehab for his prescription drug problem, but it’s starting to sound like DJ Pauly D might need to go there next. His addiction? Reality TV show cameras.
“I’m addicted to the cameras now,” he said in a recent interview with YRB Magazine. “It’s almost as if I expect them to be outside now. There are times you wish you had a certain amount of anonymity, but in the end, the good outweighs the bad. Believe me when I say that.” Spoken like a true addict. I’m sure it won’t be long until he’s freebasing those cameras and injecting low-grade attention powder straight into his eyeballs.
Then again, you could probably say that of any reality TV star. At least Pauly is honest about it. None of that Lauren Conrad “poor me, being famous is hard” business. Having the orange skin, exhibitionist streak, and Dragon Ball-Z hair necessary to land him on The Jersey Shore has improved Pauly’s life in some very concrete ways, and he’s not afraid to admit it. And now he gets to live out the dream of spreading his thump-y music across the land.
His next task? “Bridg[ing] the gap between house and hip-hop.” Because there’s no song that can’t be improved by a pounding, fist pumping, “oonst oonst” house beat.
