Meeting Rachel Crow Fulfilled All My Dreams Of Meeting A Real, Live Child Star

Ever since I was in elementary school, I’ve obsessed over child stars. I vividly remember experiencing my first love/hate relationship with a celebrity when Amanda Bynes got hired to star on All That. We were the same age! Why Amanda and not me?! (Well logic said it was because Amanda Bynes went on auditions  and I went on American Girl doll-themed tea parties, but still, why her?)

By the time I entered high school, I knew I missed the child star boat. I began praying for the next best thing, to meet a real live child star in person. Last month my dreams came true,  Rachel Crow, an up-and-coming star, was in town and she wanted to do an interview with Crushable.

Obviously I  was extremely excited to meet my first real live child star,  especially since the 14-year-old Rachel Crow appeared to actually deserve her newfound fame. Unlike the children who start out in diaper commercials when they’re infants and just work their way up, Rachel got to the top with her talent.

She kicked off her career as a top contestant on The X Factor last winter. Even though she got voted off the show, I knew she would make it in the industry. There was just something about her bubbly personality, her great voice and her stage presence that had “I’ll be famous” written all over her. Therefore I was not at all surprised when Nickelodeon signed her to an overall talent deal this February.

Even Simon Cowell predicted it when she got voted off the show in December,  he said:

”I want to thank everyone that’s voted for this young girl. I believe she went out on the highest she could have gone out on. Like I said, from the very first time I met you, we’re going to be hearing a lot more about Rachel Crow, I give you my word on that.”

So even though she was only 14 and I was 11 years her senior, I got butterflies in my stomach before she entered the room. This girl had her mentor Simon Cowell’s full support while I was still stuck trying to explain my career to the people who supported me.

Rachel is adorably sweet as stated in the article. I follow her on Twitter, and must say that reading her tweets everyday is a pure pleasure for me. She’s down to earth, unspoiled and just plain lovely. I hope fame never changes her…Because finally, we have a teen star to be proud of.
