Remember yarnbombing? Artists would bestow knitted creations upon objects like bikes and even the Wall Street bull in New York City. It was a relatively harmless act that lent those objects a new look, however temporarily. Now we have to tip our hats to some intrepid artists in Halifax, Nova Scotia (a.k.a. Canada), who have taken yarnbombing down a notch and have attached felt vulvas to at least two statues in the area.
NSFW if your employer/professor/parents have a problem with drawings of vaginas, as this colorful piece of felt is rather detailed.

This sturdy gent is Edward Cornwallis, who actually has a rather shady past: His statue has been vandalized with anything from blood to naked models due to his sordid history of hunting down “rebel” Native American tribes while founding Halifax. The ambivalence toward him seems to be so great that Halfix site Open File, who broke the story, reported that the vagina greatly improved his appearance.
There’s no word who’s responsible for this street art, but already a second one has cropped up. A much more colorful felt vulva appeared on a creature statue at Halifax’s NSCAD University. It’s unclear if it’s the same artist or a copycat.
